Disrupting hybrid work with Tehama : Frequently Asked Questions

02.28.2023

Tehama is a brand new solution that will revolutionize how businesses implement and manage hybrid workforce. We had already presented the key features of this turnkey solution, that goes beyond traditional solutions like VDI or DaaS.

Today learn more about Tehama with some basic Q&A, meant to explain what is at stake simply and straight to the point.

So without further ado, let’s dive in!

1. What is the Tehama platform?

Tehama platform combines many different components in order to support the secure transfer, or exchange, of work. At the heart of the Tehama solution is the need to enable workers to transmit their work/data input (i.e. keyboard, mouse, screen) via an ‘application’ container to the datacenter and receive information/updates/data/output via the ‘application’ container. These datacenters are located both on-premises and in the cloud.

2. Why do businesses need Tehama solution?

Up until now, there has been no “internet-native” platform to transfer work safely and securely between the datacenter and the desktop. The cloud-enabled and digital desktop delivery solutions, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop as a Service (DaaS), which many businesses used to deliver productivity to their end users are just one piece of the puzzle. Outside of this, networking, security, workflow automation, and other solutions are still required to fully deliver productivity to their end-users.

Today’s businesses need a purpose-built platform that makes work smarter, safer, and more productive. This platform must be a repeatable, highly scalable, turnkey solution that will enable the business to respond quickly to changing market dynamics, pursue new opportunities around the globe, support work-from-anywhere, and fulfil the cloud-first mandates that will position the business for accelerated growth and success. This purpose-built platform is the Tehama solution.

3. How is Tehama solution different from a VDI solution?

With VDI, the business locally creates and manages the underlying virtualization and resulting virtual desktops. This means the business itself owns and operates the VDI servers, takes charge of creating and maintaining all the virtual desktop images, and so on. With Tehama you don’t have the extra cost and overhead of running local infrastructure. Tehama is also completely turn-key meaning we include Privileged Access Management, Zero Trust Network access, Regulatory and Compliance Auditing, Data and IP Protection and 3rd Party Workflow Automation.

4. How is Tehama solution different from a DaaS solution?

With DaaS, a third-party provider creates and manages the virtualization environment and virtual desktops. Most commonly, this includes not only the virtual desktop, but also apps and support. The outside provider owns and operates the VDI servers and controls the creation and provisioning of virtual desktop images. In effect, the business simply “rents” virtual desktops from the provider who provisions the requested instances and makes them available to users. Tehama includes so much more than just a virtual desktop. Included in the platform are Privileged Access Management, Zero Trust Network access, Regulatory and Compliance Auditing, Data and IP Protection and 3rd Party Workflow Automation among other features.

5. How does Tehama enable hybrid work?

As organizations start to develop a truly hybrid workforce, they will soon realize that they simply cannot focus on just the desktop (physical/virtual/cloud) as the key enabler for hybrid work.

Yes, the virtual desktop is still part of the Tehama Workroom, along with the 11 other tools (SASE, networking, monitoring, auditing, compliance, etc.) you need. But, the Tehama Workroom is a construct that was built from the ground up for a hybrid workforce. We did not bolt-on tools to a desktop!

Because Tehama’s Workrooms are virtual (in the cloud), they can be used anywhere a cloud footprint exists, and as close to the users as possible for the best possible performance (low latency). Further, applications (Windows, Linux, or SaaS) are hosted in the desktop/browser, for greater security and flexibility.

6. What about security? How does the Tehama Workroom protect a business’s data and applications?

By grouping together employees, third-party contractors, gig workers (on demand), call center workers, knowledge workers, developers, scientists, financial analysts, medical specialists, graphical artists, animators, architects, and more), and providing them with the right access levels to role-specific tools, apps, policies, security, and data, Tehama is able to more simply and securely onboard and offboard end users, and ensure security and identity management protocols remain in place.

7. Why should organizations engage with Tehama to enable hybrid work?

We know how complicated it is to build a virtual workplace infrastructure for hybrid workers: it’s a costly and resource-intensive process. Most importantly, the time required to set up a high-performance virtual infrastructure is extensive, with uncertain outcomes at each stage.

Further, there are many vendors in this space that are singularly focused on certain solutions (i.e. connectivity, security, desktop delivery) while others build a few of the pieces together and then integrate with the other players to enable each customer to build a customized Tehama solution.

Only Tehama offers a platform that is a repeatable, scalable, turnkey offering that can be set up in one hour. The Tehama platform integrates with solutions offered by today’s leading VDI and DaaS providers, ensuring that every customer has all of the tools in place to enable hybrid work.

8. How is Tehama solution TCO compared with TCO of VDI or DaaS solutions?

Based on the fact that Tehama includes everything required to have a safe and secure remote workforce, its TCO is significantly lower than TCO of traditional remote work solutions. Not to mention the complete orchestration capabilities which allows companies to efficiently manage their remote work needs.

The TCO of Tehama’s solution is therefore significantly lower than traditional remote working solutions that pile on vendors, contracts and technical constraints. With Tehama, in a single solution, you gather all key features including:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Risk management
  • Automation
  • Remote Work
  • Operational management

9. What are the benefits of Tehama solution for the user?

End users can connect to their Tehama desktop with whatever device they choose from any internet connection yet the connectivity back to any corporate infrastructure remains completely isolated from the end point and safe.

10. What are the benefits of the Tehama solution for the IT teams?

They are too many to list them all. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Cybersecurity: Network and infrastructure, native Zero Trust, secure desktop, data preservation through collaborative storage…
  • Risk management: Audit and supervision, SoC 2 certification, intelligence tools against tactical, strategic and operational attacks…
  • Automation: Identity and access management, managed service delivery, workflow management…
  • Remote Work management: Secure VDI, DaaS, image creation and administration, change management, fight against Shadow IT…
  • Operational ease: Pay as you Go, choice between cloud, hybrid or on-premise, end-to-end integration, simplified user experience

11. Starting from how many users is it interesting to use Tehama solution?

Tehama makes sense for organizations that have 50 or more employees doing full time remote work, it is also a fit for smaller companies that need very high specification desktops for heavy graphics work.

12. What are the prerequisites to install Tehama solution?

None, just install client on the local machine.

13. How much time do you need to settle a POC of Tehama solution?

Two weeks are sufficient to settle and lead a POC of the solution.
